Every Sail Tells a Different Story

Behind the Seams
A few thoughts from my workshop by the sea.
Walk along any marina and you'll see sails quietly doing what they were made to do—catching the wind and carrying people across the water.
Eventually, though, every sail reaches the end of its sailing life.
For most, that's where the story ends.

For me, it's where it begins.
When an old sail arrives at my workshop, I never know exactly what I'm going to find. There might be faded numbers, colourful patches, original stitching or marks left behind by years of adventures at sea.
Those aren't imperfections to me.
They're memories, little stories about the sail.
I carefully clean each sail before deciding which parts will become a bag. Every cut is planned so that the sail's original character remains part of the finished design.
No two sails are ever the same, and that's exactly why no two Salt Sand Sunshine bags are ever identical.
Every piece carries a little bit of its previous journey—and is ready for its next adventure.
