Meet the Maker

Hi, I'm Silke.

I'm the maker behind Salt Sand Sunshine, based on the beautiful Dorset coast.

What started as a love of sewing and creating things by hand has grown into a collection of one-of-a-kind bags and accessories made from reclaimed sailcloth and rescued fabrics.

Living by the sea inspires so much of what I make. From harbour walks and sailing boats to beach days and coastal adventures, that relaxed seaside feeling is woven into every piece.

Why I Love Sailcloth

There's something special about working with sailcloth.

Every sail has already lived a life before it reaches my workshop. The stitching, markings and signs of adventure tell a story that can't be recreated.

Rather than letting those materials go to waste, I enjoy giving them a new purpose and transforming them into practical bags that are ready for their next adventure.

No two pieces are ever exactly the same – and that's exactly how I like it.

More Than Just Bags

Salt Sand Sunshine isn't just about creating bags.

It's about creating pieces that feel a little different from the mass-produced products found on the high street.

Whether it's a beach bag, a crossbody bag, a washbag or a storage bucket, every item is handmade by me in Dorset and designed to bring a little coastal character into everyday life.
