Sometimes a piece of sailcloth simply decides what it wants to become.
This particular piece was too small for one of my shoe bags, didn't quite belong in anything else – but with its original character and generous shape, it was perfect for a roomy boxed washbag.
Handmade in Dorset from reclaimed white sailcloth, this one-of-a-kind travel washbag features a bold blue No. 5, a matching blue zip and a bright yellow carrying handle.
 
The wide boxed shape gives you plenty of room for toiletries while still being soft and flexible enough to squash down when you're not using it.

Simple and spacious inside
The interior has deliberately been left open, with no additional pockets or compartments, giving you one generous space for toiletries, bottles, brushes and all those other bits and pieces that somehow end up travelling with us.
The long zip opens the bag nice and wide, making it easy to see and reach what's inside.

A sail with a previous life
 
As with all Salt Sand Sunshine pieces, the reclaimed sailcloth may show original stitching, creases, marks and other signs of its former life on the water.
They're not imperfections to be hidden – they're part of the reason I use old sails in the first place.
 
No two pieces of sailcloth tell quite the same story.
