The book Camino Winds written by John Grisham was a bit weird for my liking and although it was a slim book it took me a while to finish it. I read it before "The Hike" and therefore I cannot say I had high hopes.
Although I did, but it is a bit of slow pace at the beginning. I can´t say it was John Grisham´s finest books, to be perfectly honest, but maybe it´s just me. It´s starting with a group of friends from the main character Bruce, the Islands Book-Shop owner, meeting a day before the big Hurricane is coming. Most of them are leaving the Island after their dinner, but some are staying, of course . Bruce, Nick and Bob and the murder mystery starts.
The middle is more about rebuilding the Island and the three friends trying to solve the murder and trying to get information from the family of the deceased. The last third of the book is the most intense bit and everything is happening at once. Not being American and not quite so familiar with the way Police, FBI and all the others work, I find it quite unrealistic from the storytelling. However what I can believe is the story within, that the Pharmaceutical companies and Nursing Homes are dodgy and are making a lot of money from vulnerable people. I did like the calmness of the friends Bob, Bruce and Nick in the book and the way they handled the situations. It was hard to predict the next moves of the story, which kept me going.
All in all, not sure if I would recommend it.
